Description
The RT8207L provides a complete power solution for memory systems by combining switching regulation and tracking termination in one device. It handles both the main memory supply (VDDQ) and the termination/driver supply (VTT), along with features to support memory sleep states and protection.
Functional Blocks
-
Buck Converter for VDDQ
-
Constant‑on‑time PWM architecture, giving fast transient response (≈100 ns)
-
Output accuracy of ~1 % over line and load
-
Configurable output: fixed 1.8 V (DDRII), 1.5 V (DDRIII), or adjustable in range ~0.75 V to 3.3 V
-
Resistor‑programmable switching frequency
-
Uses R_DS(on) sensing (low side MOSFET) for current limit (no external sense resistor)
-
Soft-start with current ramp to prevent overshoot
-
-
Tracking LDO for VTT / VTTREF
-
1.5A sink/source capability to drive termination
-
Buffered low-noise VTTREF (reference) output
-
Supports remote sensing (VTTSNS) for accurate regulation
-
Can turn off (High‑Z) or discharge in low power states
-
-
Memory State / Sleep Support
-
Inputs S3, S5 to control which rails (VDDQ, VTT) remain on or off in different power states
-
MODE pin to select discharge behavior (how outputs are pulled down in shutdown or sleep)
-
In S3: VTT is floated (High‑Z), VDDQ & VTTREF remain
-
In S4/S5: VDDQ, VTT, VTTREF all disabled and discharged
-
-
Protection & Monitoring
-
Over‑voltage protection (OVP), under‑voltage protection (UVP)
-
Over-current limit (cycle-by-cycle)
-
Thermal shutdown
-
Power‑Good (PGOOD) output to indicate when VDDQ is within tolerance
-
Latch behavior for severe faults; reset via power cycling or enable control
-
-
Operating Conditions & Packaging
-
Input voltage range ~4.5 V to ~26 V
-
Available in WQFN packages: 4×4 mm (24 pins) or 3×3 mm (20 pins)
-
Must mount exposed pad to PCB ground for proper thermal dissipation
-
