ISL62771 – Multiphase PWM Regulator for AMD Fusion Mobile Platforms
The ISL62771 is a dual-output synchronous buck controller engineered for high-performance processor core and graphics voltage regulation. It supports the AMD SVI 2.0 interface, enabling direct communication with the processor for dynamic voltage control. One of its outputs can operate in 1‑phase or 2‑phase mode (for core voltage), and the other supports 1-phase operation (for Northbridge or integrated GPU).
The internal PWM modulator uses Intersil’s Robust Ripple Regulator (R3™) architecture, which can automatically adjust switching frequency during load transients, improving both transient response and light-load efficiency. The ISL62771 supports multiple current-sensing methods — including lossless DCR (inductor) sensing or resistor-based sensing — and includes advanced features like differential remote sensing, programmable voltage droop, telemetry of current/voltage, and protection circuits (OVP, overcurrent, thermal monitoring).
