Description
The TPS51275B is a highly integrated dual-synchronous step-down controller designed for efficient multi-rail power-supply architectures in notebook computers, tablets and other compact electronics. It operates from an input voltage range of 5 V to 24 V and supports the generation of two main output rails — typically 5 V and 3.3 V (adjustable within ±10%) — while also incorporating built-in LDOs for both the 5 V and 3.3 V rails.
Key features include:
-
Adaptive on-time D-CAPâ„¢ control architecture offering stable regulation and fast transient response.
-
Two integrated LDOs rated around 100 mA each for the 5 V and 3.3 V rails, reducing external component count.
-
Output discharge, separate enable inputs for the two switchers, power-good output, and dedicated over-voltage (OVP), under-voltage (UVP), over-current (OCP) and thermal-shutdown (OTP) protection.
-
Compact 20-pin QFN (3 × 3 mm) package, making it suitable for high-density PCBs.
-
Light-load efficiency optimized via an Out-of-Audioâ„¢ (OOA) light-load mode in this B-variant, ensuring quiet operation under low-current conditions.
-
Typical applications: system-power supplies for notebooks, portable PCs, ultra-compact embedded systems requiring multiple voltage rails with minimal footprint.
By combining dual synchronous buck control, built-in LDOs, and optimized light-load behaviour in a small package, the TPS51275B simplifies board design, reduces component count and supports efficient high-density power architectures.
