Description
Features:
-
The APW8743C integrates two independent buck converter channels in one chip. Each channel is capable of delivering up to 0.5 A output current (peak) under design conditions.
-
It supports a wide input voltage range from about 4.5 V to 24 V
-
The switching frequency is fixed at 500 kHz for both channels.
-
It operates in both PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation) mode for light loads (to boost efficiency) and PWM mode under heavier loads to maintain regulated performance.
-
It includes several protective and control features:
  • Power‑on reset (POR) to prevent startup glitches
  • Soft-start to limit inrush currents during startup
  • Soft‑stop / integrated output discharge to actively discharge output capacitors when shutting down
  • Overcurrent protection (OCP) with latch‑off behavior
  • Overvoltage protection (OVP)
  • Undervoltage protection (UVP)Â
  • Overtemperature protection (OTP) -
The device has separate EN (enable) controls and VID (voltage identification) control for each channel (VNN_BYP & V1P05A_BYP).
-
It also provides a POK (Power OK) indicator for the combined channels.
-
It is designed for systems requiring high efficiency across light and moderate load ranges, especially when dual rails are needed from a common input supply.
Usage context: It’s typically used in laptop / motherboard power design for Intel Tiger Lake generation systems, where it supplies system voltages like VNN and 1.05 V (V1P05A).
