Description
The RT8207M is a versatile power management IC used in notebook or system boards to generate memory supply rails (VDDQ, VTT) with accurate regulation and integrated protection.
Functionality & Architecture

It integrates a synchronous PWM buck converter to step down battery or system bus voltage to the required DDR memory voltage (VDDQ).

It also incorporates a 1.5 A sink/source tracking linear regulator (LDO) for the VTT rail, used as a termination or reference for DDR memory.

A buffered low-noise reference (VTTREF) is available for memory termination circuits.

Supports fixed memory voltages (e.g. 1.8 V for DDR II, 1.5 V for DDR III) and adjustable output (0.75 V to 3.3 V) via external resistor divider.

Uses low-side R_DS(on) sensing to implement resistor-programmable current limit (cycle-by-cycle).

The control scheme is constant-on-time PWM, which gives fast transient response (~100 ns load-step latency).

Frequency is programmable via an external resistor.

Includes power‑good (PGOOD) output to signal when VDDQ is within regulation.

Supports discharge / tracking modes for VDDQ and VTT when entering low-power or sleep states (S3, S4/S5).

It ensures protection through over‑voltage, under‑voltage, over‑current, and thermal shutdown mechanisms.
