TPS51216 – Complete DDR Memory Power Solution: Buck + LDO + Reference

The TPS51216 integrates a synchronous buck regulator controller (for VDDQ), a 2 A sink/source tracking LDO (for VTT), and a buffered reference output (VTTREF), providing a compact and efficient power solution for DDR memory systems.

This device is optimized for powering DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L, LPDDR2, LPDDR3, and DDR4 memory rails in notebook, desktop, and embedded designs.

Buck Controller (VDDQ)

• Input voltage range: 3 V to 28 V

• Output voltage: 0.7 V to 1.8 V (programmable)

• ±0.8 % voltage reference accuracy

• D-CAP™ mode for fast transient response (no external compensation needed)

• Selectable switching frequency: 300 kHz / 400 kHz

• Light-load efficiency with auto-skip mode

• Soft-off operation in S4/S5 power states

• Integrated protections: OVP, UVP, UVLO, Overcurrent

• Power-Good indicator (PG) output

LDO Regulator (VTT) & Reference (VTTREF)

• 2 A peak sink/source current capability

• Low output capacitance requirement (10 µF ceramic)

• VTTREF: low-noise, buffered, 10 mA output

• Tracks half of VDDQ (VDDQ/2) with ±0.8 % accuracy

• Supports high-impedance state (Hi-Z) in S3 and soft-off discharge in S4/S5
