Description
The BQ727 (also known as BQ24727) is a programmable battery charger IC optimized for laptops and portable electronics, supporting multi-cell lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries. It integrates a synchronous NMOS buck converter controlled via SMBus, allowing the host system to regulate charging voltage, current, and input current limit. The IC includes dual charge pumps to control external FETs for power path management, providing smooth system power switching between adapter and battery.
Additional features include real-time analog current limiting (ILIM), adapter detection, safety timers, and an integrated comparator for protection. Its compact QFN-20 package and internal compensation make it ideal for space-constrained designs needing efficient and intelligent battery charging control.
