ISL62883C – High‑Performance Multiphase PWM Regulator for Mobile Processors
The ISL62883C is a versatile, multiphase synchronous buck controller designed to regulate core voltages for CPUs and GPUs under the IMVP‑6.5 specification. It supports 1, 2, or 3 interleaved phases, enabling reduced output ripple, improved thermal distribution, and efficient current sharing among phases.
Key capabilities include support for a 7‑bit VID (voltage identification) interface with steps of 12.5 mV (0 V to 1.500 V range), allowing dynamic voltage changes on the fly. It supports both resistor-based and lossless inductor DCR current sensing, differential remote voltage sensing, and adapts to PSI# and DPRSLPVR signals for power state transitions. The internal modulator (R³) varies switching frequency during transient and light-load modes to deliver fast response and high efficiency.
Protection and monitoring features include overcurrent protection, overvoltage/undervoltage protection, thermal monitoring, current balancing, and a current-monitor output (IMON). The controller includes two integrated gate drivers and supports an external gate driver to fully manage multi-phase output stages. It also features adaptive body-diode conduction time reduction and an overshoot-reduction mode for enhanced transient behavior.
Designed for space-sensitive applications, the ISL62883C is packaged in a 40‑lead 5×5 mm TQFN and provides highly accurate regulation (±0.5% over temperature) in demanding mobile and embedded systems.
